Fox Baiting Program

Project overview

Since 2010 the former Gosford City Council has received funding from the Protection of the Environment Trust to expand their biannual (autumn and spring) fox control program.

In the 2012/13 financial year POET contributed $20,000, which was used to engage appropriately qualified and experienced pest animal control contractors to bait foxes and expand the program to run for extra two weeks, and to include all of the larger Council reserves across the former Gosford Local Government Area.

In the 2015-16 financial year POET contributed $30,000 which was used by the former Gosford City Council to continue to expand the fox and rabbit control programs in natural reserves. The additional funding has made a valuable contribution to Council’s ability to protect biodiversity from the threat of fox predation in the natural reserves and other areas of key habitat for endangered species.
